Exclamation Edge of Extinction

Edge of Extinction - Nature Ritual 5,5,60
Create a level 1-8 Spirit. For creatures within its range, whenever any creature dies, Edge of Extinction deals 14-43 damage to all nearby creatures of the same type. This Spirit dies after 30-126 seconds.

OK.. I've studied this one. It sounded horrible at first, but after some research, I've found use here.

Considering that it deals damage to all creatures of the same type, you'd think that's a drawback right? Well, no. If you're using a minion master in your group, it's a horrible idea to have Edge of Extinction because if one bone creature dies, all others suffer.

Now consider this. Magnum Jungle, Northern Shiver Peaks (Traveler's Vale I think), just outside of Nolani. What do these have in common? Huge swarms of like creatures. So, if you use EoE and kill 1, the others take damage. Sure it's a risk to your party, but considering that you're swarmed by loads of the same, it becomes an asset (if you have a good monk) because as enemies die, they're the ones taking damage. For instance, in "The Wilds", I notice that usually my party can kill loads of the spiders, but the problem is that they just keep coming. Normally , I'm a MM and I summon loads of minions to counteract the hordes. But with EoE, I just kill one then move to the next and as tehy're dying,it gets easier and easier to kill.

If you're afraid of taking damage and you're using a R/Mo, you can use EoE in conjunction with Mark of Protection. Tried and true, but Mark of Protection stops all damage (that I've seen) from taking its toll on your character. So, that's 10 seconds under teh influence of EoE that you have to counter any of the effects if you're afraid of dying party members.

This is what I've learned so far from testing Edge of Extinction, and I'd like to hear more input from others.

EoE is used often in PvP to counter builds which have lot of the same professions in it. (IWAY, ranger spike etc)

Coming to think of it. EoE might be a very good farming skill. I will try some stuff today. If I come up with something usefull I'll post it.

EoE farming is often used by rangers. Ranger farming north or Sledge is almost always done this way. Plz guys if you want to know more about EoE check the ranger forum and use search engine.

And for you Ado: EoE is a good farming skill. Try search engine: EoE Farming, Ranger, Port Sledge.
It's pointless being a fan of Ado, they are just such a bad club. Van Ouden ( I think that was his name ) is cool though but thats just about it...

Talking

actually.. I've gotten into the habbit of searching before I post, but due to increased traffic, the search has been disabled almost every time I'm on.

On Topic,
It slipped my mind to use it for farming. I think I"ll go hyrda hunting in Crystal.

PvP
Since I've only tested in PvE to any extent, I want to be sure I understand what you're saying. Are you implying that with EoE, if I kill a player with a W as their primary or secondary, everyone with a W will take damage? I originally thought it was by species, meaning that any human based players that die would inflict upon all other human based. Like when my Monk died, I know my Mo/R tood damage from EoE, but I only thought it was b/c they were both human.

Curious.. I might need additional testing.

Hmmm, I'm starting the doubt as well now. But if I'm not mistaking the damage effects all those of the same primary profession.

i don't think EoE works al that well for farming. i went to an easy map (fort ranik) to test it out. at the end where all the charr are, i dropped EoE and Barraged the heck out of the charr. soon enough they all were dead, but only the ones i actually hit left drops. maybe the game thought i used the catapault?

Same creature. Human dies, other humans take damage. Charr dies, other charr take damage. Grawl dies, other grawl take damage.

Wouldn't make any sense if it worked based on primary profession.

GuildWiki about EoE Bomb, or Edge of Extinction in general
